Shifting Gears

October 27th, 2010 No comments

For anyone that is reading this blog, I’m sure you noticed the lack of posts. I’ve positioned myself on FOCUS island until I reach certain landmarks. With that said, I think there has been some confusion as to why I created this blog in the first place. It isn’t to obtain fame (don’t want it), it isn’t to get PAID (have plenty of other things going on for that), nor is it to try and prove what “skills” I have in the internet marketing world. It’s simply a place to discuss issues and ideas that are vital to our success. The number of readers, visitors, and money gained from this site is mute if we are only discussing bullshit…

If only one person has truly changed their lives from reading this blog, our work has been done.

Moving forward you will see plenty of posts discussing mental, physical, spiritual, financial, etc. topics that most are too lazy to talk about since it requires picking up a book or turning off the TV 30 minutes a day.

If any visitor is offended by the content or think I may have stolen ideas that were developed 50-100 years ago, please hit the back button asap. You’re wasting my bandwidth. Those of you who are ready to make something happen and not simply talk about it like many of our “black leaders” keep reading.

Depression – An Endless Cycle

February 17th, 2010 No comments

Before I get started with this article, keep in mind I am not a psychiatrist nor have any desire to spend years on top of years to obtain the degrees and certifications necessary to become a licensed therapist. This post is merely an observation of what I have personally experienced and what others around me are currently experiencing.

So with that said, does this scenario look familiar:

  • You look around and observe your life and where it’s headed
  • Notice that you don’t like (or even hate) certain aspects of your life
  • Get depressed about your current state of affairs
  • Think about ways to change your life
  • Get more depressed because the likelihood of changing things appears to be slim to none
  • Instead of buckling down and creating a long term plan to change things you do something to dull the pain (drugs, alcohol, sex, food, random addiction, etc.), waste time on entertainment activities that will never get you anywhere in life (video games, tv, going to the bar/club, surf internet, etc.)
  • Feel good now that the depressing stuff is “out of your system”
  • Repeat the process when reality hits you in the face time and time again

If we continue on this path, we will never see any progress. Before you know it, a decade has passed, the kids are growing up, and nothing has changed. When you notice you are comforting yourself to “get through the day” you are only guaranteeing things will never change.

Warren Buffett Investment Tips

January 19th, 2010 No comments

Warren Buffett made the following comment regarding the best investment you can make:

“The most important investment you can make is in yourself. Very few people get anything like their potential horsepower translated into the actual horsepower of their output in life. Potential exceeds realization for many people…… Just imagine you’re 16 and I was going to give you a car of your choice today, any car you wanted to pick. But there was one catch. It was the only car you were able to have for the rest of your life. You had to make it last. So how would you treat it?

Finding a Mentor – Is it Worth Your Time?

January 11th, 2010 No comments

It’s natural for us to think we can achieve our goals by ourselves. It’s definitely a possibility if you work hard enough, but in most cases we waste time and energy trying to reinvent the wheel. Finding someone who has already done what you are trying to do is crucial if we want to obtain success in the shortest amount of time. Finding a good mentor can help you save time, provide much needed experience from the school of hard knocks, and provide connections that may take years to develop.

Personal Development Regurgitation

December 31st, 2009 No comments

The same thing happens in every online subject. People tend to discuss duplicate topics over and over again without creating anything of value or helping anyone to achieve a damn thing. Once this happens, people are less receptive to information on the subject and quickly become bored. Everyone online is trying to say something important, but very few are trying to DO something important.

After speaking with a large amount of people, I’ve come to the conclusion that very few are receptive to the pie in the sky, cotton candy approach to personal development.

So what do we do?

The positive attitude and law of attraction (you are what you think about the most) principles are true. From my observations, most people believe a singular thought will help someone who is so down and depressed “snap out of it” in a blink of an eye. This is simply not the case. Anything worth doing will require work. What’s more important is the need to see immediate results.

So what can I DO to help others receive immediate results?

If you have been reading the blog lately, you will notice the mention of several training programs and other things related to online marketing. I’ve been involved in internet marketing and web development for the past 10 years, so most of this information is second nature. Connect with me on Facebook and I can help you get started on your own online empire; no strings attached (free). Click here
