Guaranteed Way to Deal With Disappointment

November 13th, 2009 Leave a comment Go to comments

I was able to spend some time talking to a very inspirational person recently about a few issues that have been holding up my progress. The recurring theme from this conversation was to remain faithful and never give up. You may be saying to yourself:

“Yah, I know that and I am tired of hearing it. I’ve been dealing with and it’s sapping all of my energy and motivation. I’m getting frustrated and depressed! Tell me something that can truly help me now.”

One of the main differences between people who have made it and those who haven’t is the successful person simply didn’t quit when many others would have. It’s not getting started that’s the key, it’s sticking with it no matter what.

If you have ever been to a seminar from a famous motivational speaker you may see how they can easily get the crowd wired up and excited about life and the opportunities it brings as long as they apply themselves. The same people may never see the results they want because they are unable to keep that excitement going once they leave the seminar.

We must be able to remain excited and confident during the worst times. As I become more involved in business, I notice that there are a lot of people who are simply in it to promote themselves by any means. What I mean by this is they will not hesitate to screw you over and burn bridges even if they will only gain fifty dollars. So many people forget that business relationships and networking are extremely important. You never know how successful someone will become in the future.

Then there are those who refuse to take care of business in a professional manner. Things like:

  • Setting appointments and not showing up, not calling to cancel, or arriving extremely late
  • Not completing a job when they say they will
  • Not living up to their promises – (We need to under-promise and over-deliver!)
  • Missing deadlines
  • Working under the influence of drugs or alcohol….yes it’s happened more times than I care to remember

If you are doing any of the above….STOP IT! If you keep your fist closed in regards to helping yourself or helping others, nothing will be able to get in and nothing will come out. More importantly, if we allow the failings of others to discourage us there is no hope.

“A limit on what you will do, puts a limit on what you can do.”
