Persistence can be defined as refusing to give up or let go. In order to achieve our goals, we must continue even if we feel like quitting. As long as we continue to take action, we will eventually obtain the results we desire.

“The majority of men meet with failure because of their lack of persistence in creating new plans to take the place of those which fail.” – Napoleon Hill

As I evaluate some of my current circumstances regarding active investments of time, money, and relationships I thought about something. How do you determine when you should quit what you are doing? Eventually, I ran into an issue of persistence vs stubbornness. When do you know you are being stubborn and not persistent? If your goals have changed or your present actions are no longer a match for your long term goals in life, it’s time to abandon what you are doing or change directions. We are sometimes placed in “interesting” situations so that we can gain experience for something much greater.

“Patience, persistence and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success.” – Napoleon Hill

In order to create new goals, we must get rid of old goals or finish them. First, you need to have a persistent vision. Once you are clear about what you wish to accomplish in a way that your vision remains steady, you will be consistent in your actions. Consistent actions is what will eventually turn into the results you are looking for. We must remember that these actions will never take place unless we make them a priority.

Do you feel like you are persistent enough? We must block out all negativity and move forward like a starving lion devouring everything that stands in our way. I personally welcome people to say I can’t do something. It’s so satisfying to be able to accomplish what people thought was impossible.

I think Colin Powell sums it up:

“Success is the result of perfection, hard work, learning from failure, loyalty, and persistence.” – Colin Powell
